NorCal Training Ride Kick Off for ALC 2014!
We're kicking off the Nor Cal AIDS/LifeCycle 2014 Training Ride Season!
We'll offer a few different routes
of varying distance and terrain,
so there's something for everyone! Our amazing Training Ride Leaders
will be out on the road with you giving you hints and tips (and
generally taking care of you) throughout your ride.
We will be providing snacks, water and a sports drink in the morning. Stay after the training ride to see some of your friends from previous AIDS/LifeCycles or talk to veterans about what to expect on the ride.
Are you a veteran rider who has cycling clothes you'd like to donate? Bring it to the Kick Off in the morning and we'll be sure it goes to a needy ALC rider!
You do not need to be registered for ALC to join our rides; all are welcome! We encourage everyone to join us. In fact, this is great way to determine if ALC is right for you. Lots of veterans will be here to answer questions, and we can register you for ALC at a discounted rate!
**PLEASE NOTE: You will NOT be allowed to park your car in the Sports Basement front parking lot, so please allow time and plan to park in one of the other public lots in the Presidio (near the East Beach or Main Post) and/or RIDE your bike to the back area of the Sports Basement**
Ride Options: ALL RIDES WILL MEET OUTSIDE AT THE BACK OF THE SPORTS BASEMENT BUILDING!
Route: Sports Basement to Tiburon and back (Paradise Loop)
Route: Sports Basement to Mill Valley and back
Beginner Skills Clinic
Join us for our fun-filled Beginners Clinic/ Bike maintenance workshop hosted by Cannondale! Haven't been on your bike yet or haven't been on it in years? This is your chance to learn all the basics! From helmet fit to clipping in and out, to what to wear and how to shift, we'll give you all the basics to build on and answer all your questions. Don't have a bike yet? Chat with the bike guys from Cannondale and they'll help you find what you need.
We'll do a little bit of riding
just to get you in the groove, so if you do have a bike, bring it! It's nothing too
difficult to start! If you are truly a beginner
cyclist, this is a great place for you to start
Don't feel like you have to join a longer or faster ride
than you are used to. We all
start our training somewhere - the important thing is that you are up
and out and on your bike!! You'll have plenty of opportunity through
the training season to increase your mileage, speed and hill climbing
abilities. No matter what your comfort level or ease on a bike, NO ONE
is left behind on our rides.
REQUIRED ITEMS FOR ALL TRAINING RIDES (in addition to your bike!):A Bike Helmet, 2 water bottles or 1 hydration pack (like a Camelbak)- 1 bottle should be filled with an electrolyte replacement drink, a bike frame pump, tire irons, patch kit or spare tube, a snack (energy bars are good and quick!) and your identification.
If this the first AIDS/LifeCycle training ride that you'll be participating in, please take some time to review Information about our Training Rides on our website.
Please feel free to contact us with your questions!
