I'm Riding to End AIDS
After many years of watching from the sidelines and promising that I would take part, I am beyond excited to finally be participating in the AIDS/LifeCycle! From June 5-11, 2011, I'll be taking part in the 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise vitally important funds to help those living with HIV/AIDS in California.
Unfortunately, I've seen first hand how this disease has and continues to affect my friends, loved ones and our greater community. Your support of my ride will help the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center continue its incredible work, serving some 2,100 people annually with free or low-cost medical care. In a state where HIV/AIDS funding has been drastically cut and is continually threatened, the services provided by LAGLC are more important and needed than ever?and for some of my friends, literally keep them alive.
And best of all, aside for simply knowing you contributed to one of the biggest annual HIV/AIDS fundraisers in the world, you can follow along on my crazy journey to June! Through my position at Instinct magazine, I'll be blogging and covering both the training and the ride itself in the magazine and online at instinctmagazine.com, beginning this fall!
With that, I ask that you please help me support the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center by generously giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
