This is the first podcast for AIDS/LifeCycle 10, coming to you directly from the AIDS/LifeCycle offices in Los Angeles, from Cyclist Representative Lisa Hachadoorian. It is a mix of stories from past AIDS/LifeCycle participants, and information for the upcoming ALC 10 ride.

PODCAST 1:

For the Newbies

1. Urban Legend.

  • Hearing is believing. Brendan Patrick helps us remember this one.

2. What is a Training Ride Leader (or TRL)?

  • Mark Botello explains the role of these vital volunteers

3. Where do your donation dollars go?

  • The Prevention On Wheels Mobile Unit (or the POW Van) is just one of the life saving programs that is, in part, supported by your donation dollars. Jimmy Ramos, who is program manager for the POW van, explains the process of the FREE HIV testing service, which the POW Van provides.

4. What's so special about a bike ride?

  • Matthew Campos sends us on a trip down memory lane, back to California AIDS Ride 3.

Wow, A LOT has happened in the last month... I'm now a Cyclist Representative for AIDS/ LifeCycle! YEAH!!!  I could not be more proud, particularly now that I've had a chance to work with this wonderful crew.

To My Cyclists

If you' signed up for AIDS/LifeCycle within the past month, and you're in Southern California, then chances are I am your Cyclist Representative. So a hearty WELCOME to all my beautiful cyclists. It is a wonderful thing that you are doing. I wish you all an amazing journey.

What does a Cycist Representative Really Do?

The short answer is lots 'o stuff to help get you to "Cow Palace". The one minute version of this is on this page (the video on the right).

It's also an example of how easy it is to make a video. This was mostly shot with an iPhone, and edited with software that comes with a Mac: iMovie, and Garage Band.

Fellow cyclists have already posted several wonderful videos on AIDS/ LifeCycle's Facebook page, asking tor donations (and more), so you might want to take a look. Just click on the little Facebook F on the left.

Happy Riding!

I'm Riding to End AIDS

From June 5-11, 2011, I'm working hard as a roadie in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Help me support the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.

Each day of AIDS/Lifecycle we would dress up in outrageous costumes like this. Then we'd work like grips on a movie set, to keep the riders healthy, hydrated, and in good spirits. It was exhausting work, and wonderful at the same time.
In 2011, I will be on AIDS/Lifecycle again, as a roadie. It will take about $850 to support me, so that I can support and take care of the 2000 cyclists who ride 545 miles in one week. My roadie number is 8901.YOU can help me by clicking the DONATE button on the right. Thank you for making a difference, now.
