I'm Riding to End AIDS

Many people perceive HIV and AIDS as a "gay" disease when in reality it is a global epidemic affecting men, women and children of every nationality, both gay and straight. Since it's discovery 30 years ago, over 30 million people have lost their lives to it. There are now 34 million people living worldwide with HIV, 23 million in Sub-Sahara Africa, nearly 2 million in the USA. During 2010, 2.7 million people worldwide became infected including an estimated 390,000 children. 

Though not the death sentence it was 30 years ago and death rates on the decline, it it still taking lives and affecting the quality of life for those living with it. 
The funds raised from this ride will support local and global agencies that combat this disease through HIV prevention outreach and working with those who are living with HIV, providing counseling and medical services and assisting with medication and healthy living.

From June 3-9, 2012, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people.
