Ill be Volunteering as a Roadie to Help End AIDS!
From June 2-8, 2013, I will be Volunteering as a Roadie for AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.
Everyone seems to want to know why? Why I chose to support Aids/Lifecycle? Why do you belong here? Well here it is: I just want to make a difference! And why not support a ride to end HIV/AIDS? Seriously! Up to 80 miles A Day! What a cool way to raise money to end Aids! Wish I could do it! So in stead I'm going to be a Roadie! and make sure that the Riders have a Great Experiance!
Again why Ive chose to support Aids/Lifecycle, like so many others I assumed that we did not need to talk about Aids any more that it was under control, that it was a "Gay" Disease... Wrong! Did you know that Aids is the sixth leading cause of death among people ages 25 to 44 in the United States? There are Millions of people here and around the world living with HIV/AIDS, many are children under the age of 15. Men, women and children still getting infected. so we are fooling ourselfs if we think that we don't need to talk about this Disease...
I could sit here all day and tell you facts, but the Facts are that there is still a need for education, research, resources, and health care facilities. I've heard the stories of friends that have lost love ones and have lost friends, many others are still living with the virus.... It's a good fight and I'm in!
This all started with many Prayers for some thing to touch my life, to a donation, then a meeting of a truly pure soul that has taken on the cause and the ride, to wanting to help that person reach their Goal, Then a visit to the Gay and Lesbian Center showed me the work they do there and the young people they help, touched my heart! Then a new friend that is a Rider and then a gentle push! And Here I am I'm A Roadie! And I've heard that Roadies Rock and I'm looking forward to doing just that, SO THATS IT!
I Just Want to Make A Differance!
So please help me support AIDS/LifeCycle by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
Oh! Aids is soooo going to Lose!
