$10,000. That is a LOT of money. At least it is to me.
If you are visiting my page for the first time I hope you will take the time to read about WHY I am trying to raise A LOT of money and what amazing good can come from OUR efforts to END AIDS.
What would $10k do to help end this pandemic?
Well, let's look specifically what YOU can do to help end the AIDS pandemic...because if you are like me, you cannot write a check for $10,000. But, you CAN still make a difference and here is how:
$5,000 covers a full year of laboratory testing for 18 patients.
$1,000 covers a full year of medical supply costs for 55 patients.
$1,000 funds one client receiving Post Exposure Prophylaxis.
$250 provides Rapid HIV Antibody tests to 20 clients.
$175 provides HIV prevention counseling sessions to 20 teenagers.
$150 provides comprehensive HIV/STD testing to 1 client.
$100 provides Hepatitis A and B vaccinations to 1 client.
$25 covers the treatment medication for 1 client infected with an STD.
$10 buys 143 condoms that the Health Education and Prevention Program will distribute.
But consider this! Larger donations can be broken up into several payments!! Break a $100 donation in to 10 easy $10 payments over 10 months! NOW this is starting to sound doaable, isn't it!?
Speaking of FUNdraising, waddya say YOU get the ball rolling?! Remember, the sooner you start the more you will raise and there are some pretty sweet incentives coming up for folks who start early and aim high! Not sure how to start? Let's chat! I can help you formulate a plan to reach any fundraising goal you set for yourself!
Same for training! Don't have a bike? Not sure how to train to complete 545 miles? Call me! I can help connect you with one of our amazing bike shop Community Support Partners to help you get a bike and then we can chat about that first pedal stroke that will mark the beginning of your journey!!
I guess there is no hiding the fact that I LOVE ALC. I LOVE all of you cyclists and I LOVE LOVE LOVE having the opportunity to work with you heroes. If I can do ANYTHING to help, please do not hesitate to be in touch. I would love to arrange a time to chat on phone, meet on a training ride or even schedule a one on one opportunity for us to connect and find out what I can do to support you.
On behalf of the staff of ALC, L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the clients we serve, thank you. Together we ARE making a difference!
My Personal Web Log
And so it begins....again!!
Someone asked me the other day if I was excited about AIDS/LifeCycle. The english language does not have enough adjectives to describe the feeling of excitement and anticipation that fills me as we begin another year of magical experiences. Admiration as I begin to meet all my new cyclists, respect and profound appreciation as I talk and interact with all of you who have decided to saddle up and make a difference.
If you are a new rider and just beginning your AIDS/LifeCycle experience, our tag line really does say it all; "You Belong Here!" That said, let me offer a most hearty WELCOME to this amazing community. If you are visiting my page, perhaps I am your official Cyclist Rep. This means I will have the very special honor of being of service to YOU as we prepare for ALC next June. I am here to answer your questions and cheerlead you on as you train and fundraise. You never know...I might just show up somewhere in a real cheerleader outfit! Whether you are a new rider or a longtime veteran, there is not much I won't do to show my appreciation and support for all you are doing. That holds true even if I DON'T happen to be your official Cyclist Rep!
