I'm Riding to End AIDS - From June 6-12, 2010, I'm bicycling in the AIDS LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS throughout the world.

So I've been wanting to do this ride for years. In honor of my completion of 3 HARD years of Physician Assistant school (the ride starts 9 days after Graduation), I decided I should memorialize this momentous event in my life with another challenge!

To be honest I am far less nervous about riding 545 miles or passing my national board exams than I am nervous about raising the $3,000 I have committed to raising before I can do the ride. No one can help me ride the 545 miles, I will be doing that alone but I need your help to help me reach my fund-raising commitment. So I am going to ask you to help me in 2 simple ways:

1) First, I know times are a bit rough but please consider making a $5, $25, $100, or $300 dollar donation (just click to your right, you're almost there!).
Every dollar helps, it truly takes a village to defeat something as big as HIV!

All Donation to the SF AIDS Foundation are tax deductible. All Donors will receive a letter of acknowledgement for tax purposes. The Federal EIN for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) is 94-2927405. And It?s possible your employer may match your gift. The company will provide the application for matching. Just follow their instructions and complete it as soon as possible. It can take a while for the funds to be received and allocated.

2) Second, Forward this webpage onto 5 of your friends who you think may be willing to donate. Seriously, You will help broaden my donor base and I have been very pleasantly surprised by the donations I have gotten from perfect strangers! If there is anything I've learned so far from this experience, You won't know if you don't ask :)

Two years ago, self supported as a PA student, I went to Africa to volunteer my time in a rural Hospital and no doubt my experiences in Kenya are a major motivator for doing the ride today. The Patients I worked with in Homa Bay were 90% stage 4 HIV, in non-medical words those who are inflicted with the AIDS associated illnesses we rarely see in practice in America due to the many advances in HIV therapy. This showed me what the early days of the epidemic was like in America, something many in my generation never experienced. I literally watched people die from AIDS... this first hand experience of the suffering AIDS continues to cause in the world is my motivator for completing this Physical and Fundraising task!

Help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. Thanks for your Support!

Much Love,

Kevin Bogart
