It all started back in middle school, during a local, inner-city mission trip with my church.
Project Angel Heart promotes the health, dignity and self-sufficiency of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing nutritious, home-delivered meals with care and compassion. -Project Angel Heart, Mission Statement
In the summer of 1997, I joined my youth group in serving metro Denver shelters, foodbanks, and other charities. Project Angel Heart was one of our stops and by far had the greatest impact. At that time, the operation was large enough to serve only those living with HIV and AIDS. I began volunteering on a regular basis and have been lucky to be a part of its growth and expanded mission in the last 12 years. In that time, there has been much to celebrate for Project Angel Heart, but as I continue to deliver meals, I still see too much pain and suffering from this horrible virus. I am riding to end AIDS.
I lived in Southern California for two years after I graduated from college. Upon returning to Denver in 2007, I continued traveling there for work. In the nearly six years of working in the Golden State, I have made the beautiful drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles on many occasions. From June 6 - June 12, 2010, I'm cycling it. The AIDS/LifeCycle is a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride starting in San Francisco, ending in Los Angeles. Its purpose is to raise awareness and resources in the fight against AIDS, and make a difference for those currently living with it.
Please help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
