I'm Riding to End AIDS

From June 6-12, 2010, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Help me support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.

I am currently gearing up for the June ride.  My broken arm has mended, my bike is tuned and all I have to do dress up in bike drag every Sunday and ride till my ass falls off (literaly!).

I wish all who read this the best.

Thanks again!

40 days until the ride?
I rode to alpine dam and then to mt tam then back home this morning, lots of climbing. Doing the same thing on Sunday.
I feel like I'm right on target to not have any problems riding to LA this year.
Thanks to all of you who have made this possible for me. I'd love to help any of you do the Aids Ride. Just ask me.

John Agillion (Malone)
My best friend John died from AIDS on Friday. I couldn't get him to ride with me this year but we were hoping for next year.
I've been very sad the past few days, thought he and I would grow old together.
It's going to be very difficult on the ride this year. I'll be remembering John all along the way. A trail of tears.

Feeling great, Sister's owning hills. Mom's a roadie...
Hey all,
Just want to make a quick entry to fill you all in. My mom signed up to be a roadie (she's on the traffic crew) so this will be a family event for me. Susan is stronger every day and is amazed that she has come from being winded after 6 blocks to riding over 60 miles on back to back days!
This is only a part f what we get to experience WHILE we raise funds for those who need help affected by HIV.
Thanks to you all!

Starting my endurance training...
Well, I'd like to say that I'm fit and excited to ride but alas reality sets in. I have gained weight (I blame it on my broken arm - not overeating!) and fear those cold rainy bike rides. I keep telling myself "if I had a new Seven bike i'd feel much more encouraged" but alas reality sets in and lugging my 40lb ass won't be easier on a new bike!
I'm also feeling sad thinking about all my friends I am missing this holiday season, all my friends struggling with AIDS, and how our lives have changed because of the disease.
I am reminded that in the past I have isolated in fear of AIDS but today have another choice, I can RIDE TO END AIDS!
Take care all and Happy Holidays!

I'm riding again.
I went on a 30 mile ride this afternoon. Took the mountain bike so things weren't so bumpy. My arm is sore but it was worth it - I have lost endurance and want to work at it again.

Broken Bones
Yeah,
My right thumb & elbow is broken. I got caught on the church street rail early Saturday morning.
It is hard typing with only my left hand!
The MD at Davies said half of their biz comes from rail falls.
I'll know more later next week but my thumb is a splinter break.
I'll be off my bike for a while...

Training...
This weekend we are closed Saturday through Monday so I have planned a 70 mile ride for Saturday with the Differnt Spokes riders (I have never ridden with them) and then a solo 100 mile ride around Pescadero for Monday.
The Monday ride has over 7000 feet of elevation gain!
I love downhills!

Training Ride Leader
I completed the TRL training today.
I was pretty clueless when I started riding last year. I had never been on a road bike, didn't know that flats happen so often nor that riding 100 miles in an afternoon could be fun.
I want to encourage and keep safe new riders. I want to give back some of what was offered to me.
I look forward to the camaraderie we will share this year!
