From June 6-12, 2010, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

This is my first year doing ALC.  I am excited!

my participation in ALC will benefit the services Provided by the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.  This Center provides prevention, testing and treatment to tens of thousands of people every year who are infected with or at risk of contracting HIV in the greater Los Angeles Area.  This Center provides these services to everyone regardless of sexual orientation.

With things the way they are in the current economic situation - budget cuts, layoffs and business closing their doors -- many of our friends and neighbors are being added to the list of people that don't have medical insurance.  The combination of these two things is threatening the heath and lives of those infected with HIV and the efforts used to prevent new infections.  The idea that the people that depend on these organizations who provide services (such as the LA Gay and Lesbian Center) may be turned away is really disheartening and I knew I had to do something to help.

For my part in fighting this problem, I have personally committed myself to raise $3000.  You may think that's a lot however it is equivalent to only 1/5 of the cost of HIV medication for only ONE person.

whats new with me this week:   Riding the Trainer at home when I can't enough street time.
