Scott Ward's Dining Out for Life fundraising page
Why it's important: As many of you know, I used to work as the Development Associate for the STOP AIDS Project and helped organize the Dining Out for Life event for them back in the day, so this event has a special place in my heart. When I worked there during the mid-aughts, new HIV infections rates in San Francisco were fairly consistent year to year. But over the past 5 years or so, the number of new infections of HIV have dramatically decreased, as well as the number of AIDS related deaths. I think this is related to both getting newly positive people into treatment plans quickly and continuously so they can get to an undetectable viral load status, as well as the expanded use or PrEP which has proven to be a very effective prevention plan for those most at risk for infection. It's been encouraging over the past few years to think that a future is possible where 0 new infections happen each year and those living with HIV/AIDS can expect to lead full healthy lives. Please join me in supporting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation to achieve both of those goals.
