This is my sixth year participating in AIDS LifeCycle. For those of you who are new to my communication regarding this event, June 4th through 10th, 2017 I will join over 3,000 cyclists, roadies (volunteers) and virtual cyclists on a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and LA LGBT Center.
Each year I’ve participated in the ride and developed a deeper appreciation for the services offered by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Support groups, care for people living with HIV/AIDS, health programs like free STD screening, syringe access, education and advocacy programs locally and nationally are all ways that funds raised by the AIDS/LifeCycle event help prevent new HIV infections. In 2015 36.7 million people were living with HIV globally and there were 2.1 million new infections (UN AIDS Program). Supporting AIDS LifeCycle is a way to help improve these statistics in California through the services offered by SFAF and the LA LGBT Center.
This year I’ve set an aggressive fundraising goal. I have pledged to raise $25,000 for AIDS LifeCycle and I need your help! Please make a donation on my behalf here on my personal page and send a message to me to find out how you can help me reach my fundraising goal. This is really going to take a community of people to help me reach this goal, and your personal involvement in holding fundraising events and reaching out to your friends and family will be critical. Please also pay special attention as I’ll be sending out updates and invites to fundraising events I’ll be coordinating myself.
Thanks for reading and providing any support you can. Your commitment (both time and money) to helping end HIV/AIDS will make a difference!
