I am a privileged person. I get to seek out challenges that interest me and play to my strengths, such as the AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise money and awareness for people living with HIV and AIDS.
Other people aren’t as lucky, and they are given challenges by life that far exceed any I have had to face. The struggles we embrace as we ride the distance between SF and LA and the mountains we conquer are representative of, but minor in scale and time compared to the difficult lives of the people we try to help.
I’m trying to raise $5000 for this awesome organization. In SF and LA, this money goes directly to provide medical care and education and support services to individuals living with HIV and AIDS. In addition, this money supports HIV and AIDS research. Through the money raised in previous years, the rate of new HIV cases in SF has dropped by 95%. The data shows this is the result of identifying HIV positive people. and getting them properly medicated. Now, the methods for accomplishing this that were pioneered in SF are being adopted across the country. That’s just one reason why this work is so important to fund.
Please help me help them by donating any amount you can. Every dollar is well-spent. In return I will be training hard, helping others as a training ride leader, and grinding out every mile in tribute to the millions who have been affected by HIV and AIDS.
