Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 2nd - June 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
Year 2018 was my first time and I absolutely loved it. Being a part of this family is commonly referred to as the love bubble. Amazing people, amazing staff and not one bad person in the group. Before participating in the ride in 2018, my longest bike ride was the STP (Seattle to Portland) involving 200 miles spread over two days (~100 miles each day). Friends in Seattle and San Francisco got me interested in this special ride. One of them asked me how much riding I do. I commute to work daily, 7.4mi round trip, 5 days/week, year round, rain or shine (yes, even in the snow). Their response? "You can do it." I did it. I want to do it again.
This is a very long bike ride spread over a full week. That's a week I need to take off from work to accomplish this. Add in the huge support effort of keeping me safe, fed, place to sleep, bike maintenance..., it's a long list and that is not cheap for this event. Furthermore, the tremendous effort by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and Los Angels LGBT Center who have worked tirelessly for decades to fight AIDS/HIV and remove the stigma that comes with it in society. This is why I ride.
I need your help and support. I have a big goal of $5000 and the sooner you can help me, the sooner I can stop worrying about it and focus on preparing for the ride itself. You know how much you can contribute and I set no minimum amount. Anything you can contribute for my ride would be greatly appreciated. It's an honor to ride in such an event in a beautiful place, but I need support from my friends to make this possible. It's not just me either. Many of our friends who have HIV/AIDS need your support—that's the bottom line here.
If your company supports matching funds, engage that resource! I’ve had multiple donors so far with corporations that match their funds, dollar for dollar. Do not let that go to waste! It takes a little more time to process, but so worth the effort.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past.
