Welcome to my ALC 2019 Personal Page!
Who knew I rode my bike from SF to LA last year with a torn rotator cuff! I certainly did not, just check out how high I raised my fist in the photo above.
So this Rider is going to be a Roadie for ALC 2019! I am on the Sweep Team and will be driving a sweep vehicle with my fellow Rider turned Roadie Deanna Dee Dee Tanner. We’ve named our sweep vehicle: Team Fabulous! For a Fabulous Queen & a Fabulous Monkey. We wanted to pay homage to Team Queen Mary, the team Tanner created in memory of Mary Vencill and Team Funky Monkey, the team I belong to. I feel I am ready for this important responsibility of providing road support to cyclists in needs on the route because I benefited from the Sweep Team last year when one of my clip was too worn to clip into my pedal right before the big descend on Gaviota Grade, the most formidable in length and elevation change along U.S. Route 101.
It has been an honor to be able to participate with ALC for the past 5 years because it has been a goal of mine ever since I cheered on the cyclists when they rode through Cal Poly San Luis Obispo while I was going to school there many moons ago.
The Names Project - AIDS Memorial Quilt exhibited on campus around the same time touched me so much that I can still recall the exhibit vividly and the emotional reaction from eveyone.
I also remember how desperate the AIDS crisis was. There were so much terrible stigma and fear toward folks with HIV/AIDS. We have come a long way, but the fight to end HIV/AIDS is not over yet and the stigma still has not gone away.
Let's work together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Please support my ALC 2019 endeavor by making a donation via this page.
Thank you for joining me in this worthy cause!
