MY 10th RIDE FIGHTING HIV/AIDS... JOIN ME!
On June 2-8 2019, I will once again ride my bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The AIDS/Lifecycle ride means the world to those who receive education, HIV testing, treatment and support as a result of this event, and your support means a great deal! This will be my 10th ride and am hoping to make this the best ride yet. Along with being a team captain of the Cyclepaths, I'm committed to raising 10K this year.
In addition to medications and medical support, we must still provide counseling and education for HIV/AIDS-affected individuals and families, some of it culturally-specific. A generation grew up not knowing the horror of the AIDS pandemic when every diagnosis was a death sentence. Because many with HIV can now live long lives with modern drug therapies, which is wonderful, does not mean we are home free. There are over 1 million Americans with HIV today, many with issues related to homeless, addiction, mental health, and unemployment. Nearly 1/4 of them are unaware of their HIV status, so testing is critical. Over 30 million people worldwide live with HIV/AIDS, often where support and drug therapies are unavailable to them.
Maybe HIV/AIDS has not touched your life directly, but if you would like to donate in honor or in memory of someone else facing life challenges. Please do. I ride with many names in my heart. I would be honored to ride for anyone that you carry in your heart. Tell me their names and I will carry them with me from San Francisco to LA!
I am excited to see how far I can push my fundraising this year and I hope to gain support from everyone who can! Thank you for your support! Don't forget corporate matching from your employer.
