Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 4th - June 10th I’ll be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to support the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L. A. Gay & Lesbian Center. This bike ride means the world to those who receive treatment as a result of this event, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
I am riding this year as an expression of gratitude.
Gratitude to all who donated last year and the year before that.
Gratitude to all who work countless hours searching for a cure for this disease.
Gratitude to the doctors and nurses caring for these patients.
Gratitude to those who make this ride possible.
I'm riding in this year's AIDS/LifeCycle to spread awarenss. I am riding in this year's ride for the many friends and acquaintances who have lost family members, friends and co-workers to this disease. I am riding on behalf of my sober brothers who suffer everyday, but still manage to smile.
I am riding because millions of lives have been lost in the fight against HIV/AIDS and for the people who still suffer in the dark. People are still afraid to face this illness and these precious souls need our help. They need us to raise awareness and money.
I am riding, simply because I can and because my life has changed since becoming involved with this awesome orginization.
We are still fighting HIV/AIDS and millions of people are either infected and don't know it or they are infected and too ashamed to seek help. I want them to know we stand with them and they are not alone.
The 2016 AIDS/LifeCycle ride will be my third and I will continue to ride as long as I have the means and there is a need.
I rode for the first time in 2014 to thank the universe for getting me through many of life's ebbs and flows. After riding two years in a row, my reasons have changed and this year I am participating for all of the beautiful people I've met over the last two years who are HIV+, for my family members, for the clients of the Los Angeles LGBT Center that I have the pleasure of helping daily, for friends, for my new teammates and so many more. Yes, I said new teammates.
I am not only riding again this year, I am also embarking on a new journey. This year I am the captain of an all new women's team, Team ChainChicks and we are looking forward to a great year.
Listed below are a few more reasons I ride and raise money for this cause:
- $10,000 covers 3 months of psychosocial case management for 300 patients
- $5,000 covers a full year of laboratory testing for 11 patients
- $1,000 covers a full year of medical supply costs for 40 patients
- $250 provides Rapid HIV Antibody tests to 20 clients
- $180 provides HIV prevention counseling sessions to 20 teenagers
- $150 provides comprehensive HIV/STD testing to 1 client
- $30 covers the treatment medication for 1 client infected with an STD
- $10 buys 114 condoms that the Health Education and Prevention Program will distribute
I am almost certain that everyone on this planet has been touched by this pandemic and none of us are alone in this fight.
