6/7/2016 Update from my ride:
It's Day 3 of 7, and I'm here in Paso Robles after having traveled about 230ish miles. So far, the ride has been amazing. I can't even begin to describe how vast the California landscape is. It's truly beautiful: rolling vineyards, fields of lettuce, strawberries...and the coastline! I've been rolling through so many different climates...a couple days I was in Santa Cruz, and now I was in 100+ degree weather here.
Athletically, I am feeling just fine. Of course, my butt is sore from sitting on the saddle for hours at a time, but I haven't pulled any muscles or had anything like exhaustion. I really attribute this to my everyday training in martial arts, attending AIDS LifeCycle training rides, and just being on a bicycle as often as possible.
Ok, the internet tent is closing now, so I've got to post an update another time. Thank you! --Ramon
Thanks for your support in helping me!
I'm riding to end AIDS. I decided the best thing _I_ could do would be to do this ride and spread awareness. By doing this ride, I hope that you learn something new about HIV/AIDS from me and that you can support me with a tax-deductible contribution. THANK YOU!!!
The entirety of your donation goes towards the SF AIDS Foundation and goes directly towards social services. This means, among other things free HIV/STD tests, ongoing medical care and case management to thousands of HIV pateints. SFAF has an ambitious goal of reducing new HIV infections in SF by 50% in 2015. In other words, 151 or fewer new infections, according to the Department of Public Health. It's totally do-able, so please help me make it happen.
All donors will receive an eighth grade graduating picture of me when I had my perm. Yes, it's been often discussed and unless you went to St. Gabriel with me, you have most likely never have seen it before. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE.
Your donation would mean life-saving treatment for them. Feel free to give me a call, and I can tell you more about their mission. Seriously! Please email me for my number at ramon.s.solis @ gmail.com
June 5th - June 11th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
We're working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
