Thank you for helping me "pay it forward"!
Six years ago I suffered a traumatic brain injury and broken bones in a cycling accident. I spent five days in ICU where my family did not know when I would wake up and if I did, what functionality I would have. Thankfully, my recovery has been better than expected and through the patience, support and encouragement of family and friends, I was also able to get back on my bike!
Committing to ride the 545 miles of the Lifecycle ride to raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and LA LGBT Center is my way to pay forward the support and encouragement I was so lucky to get in my time of need. This will be my fifth year to participate in the ride adn my first year as a Training Ride Leader on a multitude of training rides for the 9 months leading up to the ride in June. I am deeply grateful to you, my donors, for your generosity in supporting this cause: over the past four years, you have contributed over $24,000!
I am asking you to increase your previous donation this year if at all possible to reach $30,000 in cumulative contributions for these amazing organizations. Your donation can easily be doubled if your employer matches your contribution (if you need help coordinating corporate matching, please let me know and I will work with donor services to help you.) Also, you don't have to contribute your entire donation right away: you can spread it out over 10 months (to do this, select "monthly payments" after selecting your total donation amount)
I am also putting my personal money where my mouth is: I have chosen to personally contribute $1,000 to the ride which is the cost of the ride per cyclist so that every penny of your donation will go directly to the lifesaving and life affirming services of the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center.
I am excited to join this amazing group of people who commit hundreds of hours to training and volunteering to make this ride happen. From September until the ride starts the first week of June, I will ride about 5,000 miles to help other participants and myself to prepare.
Thank you for your financial generosity and for your thoughts for the safety all of the riders and volunteers to make this amazing fund-raising ride happen each year!
