Who I Am
My name is Christian Medina. I am a security guard with Andrews International . I've been an avid ALC supporter for about 4 years now and this will be my second year participating as a cyclist.
Why I Ride
To be part of a great cause and give back to my community. To do something important with my life, for the benefit of others. To keep the LGBT Center alive and running for the next generation. To feel like i'm a part of a big extended family working together for a comon goal.
Last year was a truly amazing, life-changing experience to part of this ride. I was able to raise my 5K fundraising goal. I'm not gonna lie and tell you it was easy. It wasn't. It was hard work but absolutely worth it. I learned to budget my time better. I learned how to pitch and take down a tent. I bonded with countless strangers and fellow cyclists who did not hesitate to offer help, advise or just a kind "great job cyclist, you're doing great." This year, I've decided to raise the stakes and raise double that amount to $10,000. I know together we can make that happen.
$10,000 helps provide counseling services for more than 250 clients.
$5,000 helps keep the HIV testing RV rolling for one year.
$2,500 helps four HIV-positive people receive stable housing for one month.
$1,000 helps provide two Community Education Forums where 150 individuals can learn more about HIV.
$250 helps provide ten rapid HIV antibody tests at a testing
June 2nd - June 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I'll be one of them!
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We're working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
