Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 4th - June 10th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I’ll be one of them!
After learning about this ride from a good friend who participated last year, I have decided to do my part in the fight against AIDS/HIV by taking part myself!
HIV advocacy has always been important to me. As a small business owner a portion of my profits would go to local organizations, and while working nights as a server my days were often spent operating the hotline at Aids Partnership Michigan (now Unified - HIV Health and Beyond).
On a personal level, taking part in this ride marks a return to giving my time and energy to a cause that I care deeply about. It also marks what I hope to be a change in my life towards being more active physically, pushing myself in ways I wouldn't have considered before (even a year ago if someone had told me I would one day agree to bike from San Francisco to LA I would have called them crazy).
On a more global level, this ride to me represents the larger struggle the gay community, many low income communities, and communities of color face dealing with this disease every day. I feel it's incredibly important that we in the gay community and our allies don't forget the effects of HIV/AIDS has had on our community over the years, and that we do not become complacement in combating the disease.
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
If you are able to donate, I appreciate any amount you feel able to give
If you are unable to donate, please help out by sharing this page on facebook, twitter, or directly with anyone you believe to be willing and able!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your support!!!!
