First of all, thank you for making it here. Now help me, help others!
For those who don't know what the ALC ride is:
June 4th - June 10th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. I know you're saying, "OF COURSE KEAHU SHOULD DO THIS!" Well this is my first year riding (but NOT last) and I want to crush this fundraising goal.
The services this foundation and the funds will provide are pivotal to the well-being of the communities they serve and it's not just LGBTQ. However, my participation in this ride is not just for the direly needed funds but also for creating awareness and in support of: all those affected by this epidemic, their families, their friends and for all those who cannot ride themselves.
WHY AM I RIDING? Let's face it. It's been a shitty year for the LGBTQ community. Selfishly, I need this because protesting, voting and donating money just wasn't enough for me to make a positive difference in the world in a way that I could sleep better at night. Unselfishly, I am doing this for victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting, for every GLBT being marginalized and targeted around the globe, for future generations who should be able to live without this threat, for my uncle who died of AIDS, and for my grandma (because she taught me compassion for my fellow human, voted NO on Prop 8, loved me even when I was an utter shithead and would be supporting this ride either way).
Will you help me and all those I ride for by making a donation today? (Yes, the answer is yes. And then click that donate button.)
