Hi Friends!
From June 3rd - June 9th, 2018 I will be joining over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. By doing this we will raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
This ride is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and now that I am living in San Francisco, 2018 is the year! When I lived in Shanghai I got involved with the LGBT community. I helped organize Shanghai Pride, and was a leader of a queer women's group for a few years. Shanghai Pride was always a fundraiser, it was a great feeling to put on an event where the funds were going to a good cause. While in China I also developed a love for cycling; whether around town or a longer biking expedition, cruising around on two wheels has become my favorite way to get around!
Now that I am back in the US I have kept up the biking, and now it’s time to keep being part of the community. The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me. As I'm from Northern California donations go directly to the San Francisco AIDS foundation (no waiting till June), so they can continue to do their important work supporting the community in San Francisco.
I am excited to start out on this journey, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the experience and the community involved. Any support you are willing to give will be much appreciated as the AIDS Lifecycle Ride community continues to work together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past!
