Thank you once again for joining me in this cause!
I am back this year with one year experience under my belt. What an awesome adventure it was. I want to thank all of you that donated to this meaningful cause which allowed me to participate on the ride. My reasons to support this cause was stated last year to support my son who suffers with HIV and to continue personnally in doing service work for others.
This year, I still embrace the above mentioned reasons, but during the course of training for the ride, I discovered something else. I realized that during my journey of life, I chose to adopt the belief which promoted the stigma associated for those who are not heterosexual. I chose to ride again and support the LGBT community to make amends for my shameful behavior of the past. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of the people who I met last year from this community that accepted me without judgement.
For those that truly know me, you will know what I mean when I say the work never stops. I not only chose to put in work to help end the AIDS epidemic, but also will do everything in my power to break the cycle that stigmatizes this great community of human beings.
I ask you all once again to please donate to this cause. I will make the physical and mental sacrifices that are associated with this event in honor of all that support ending AIDS and breaking the stigma cycle. The HIV/AIDS related services provided to this community as a result of this event, means the world to those who receive them, and your support in the form of donations means the world to me.
Sadly, there is another reason I am compelled to be transparent about. In 1982, I took a life and was incarcerated. Upon my release, after spending 32 years in prison, I made a commitment to a Living Amends of Service to my community to honor Toni Rae MaHaffey, whose life I took away. This is what my world looks like to me. Helping those in need of support.
For those reasons, I have chosen to commit myself to this incredible journey. I am asking you to help me meet my goal of joining those in the journey of a lifetime by your donations. I have learned that nobody can do much without the assistance of others. I humbly ask each of you now for your assistance in achieving this wonderful goal by donating what you can in support of this cause.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
