As some of you may know, last year I took on the physical challenge of riding my bike 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Come June 3rd 2019, I’ll be as ready as I can be to do it AGAIN!!
Last year’s ride was a transformational experience. When I first joined AIDS/LifeCycle, I'll be honest, I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting myself into. The more I learned about the cause and the benefit of raising money to help those in need, the more I became intrigued. I thought “Wow, we could really help a lot of people and change lives!” I never thought in doing so I would become part of such a wonderful community.
What’s known as the LOVE BUBBLE on the road was exactly how I think we all wish the world would be. Everyone took care of each other, whether it was simple words of encouragement, offering to help set up a tent or a shoulder to cry on after a “steep climb.” There was a sense of support and security. By the end of the 7 days, strangers became family.
I am riding again this year, first, to make the world more like that. Second, I am happy to support the Los Angeles LGBT Center and their HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs.
Those who know me know I have a passion for taking care of people. That is what this ride and what the mission of the LGBT Center is all about. I am grateful to be riding for them. The work that we do on this ride will save the lives of people that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the costly medication they require to live.
Last year, with your help, I was able to raise over $3,000 in donations. I'm hoping we can double this! This year I've set my goal to $6,000.
Please join me by doing everything in your power to donate generously.
PS. My amazing girlfriend Takara will be joining me on this ride. She's really excited to be joining this community and being part of such a great cause. Please help by checking out her page and donating.
