I'm riding from San Francisco to LA and I want you with me!
Last year Matt told me he was going to participate as part of the road crew in this year's 545 mile / 880 km AIDS LifeCycle bike ride from SF to LA. Each year it raises money for AIDS research and funding for the LA LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
We lost Matt before he could participate, but some of his friends invited me to watch at the finish line this past June. I was so inspired by what I saw that I signed up on the spot and committed to ride the June, 2019 ALC in Matt's and his Mom Hilda's memory. Some of Matt's friends and I named our team, "Team Miao" after Matt.
Over 3,000 of us will start in the early hours of the morning on June 2nd at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and finish at midday on Saturday June 8th at Fairfax High School in West Hollywood. A moving city sets up camp each night along our route. Trucks and buses with crew, food, water, showers, tents, medical and every type of support you could imagine for an endeavor like this are all possible because of people like you.
When I signed up the guy told me that in order to qualify to ride each rider has to raise a minimum of $3,000. My jaw dropped. He must have seen my shock and said, "All you have to do is ask 300 friends for $10." My immediate thought was, "Wow! 300 friends! He must be very popular."
I'm hoping to raise more than the minimum. Any amount you can contribute in my name will be most appreciated by me and my family. And you can acutally spilt your donations up automatically over months if that makes it easier for you, and I'll get credit for the full amount immediately.
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them -- thousands of men, women and children -- and your support means the world to me. We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
