This June I will be participating with over 3,000 other Cyclists and Volunteers in the 2019 AIDS/LifeCycle ride, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Raising funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. I am so excited to take on this challenge and raise money for an amazing cause and organization.
I am riding as a supporter of those who are living, those who have passed, and those who do not yet know their AIDS or HIV status. Most importantly I am riding for those that I personally know who have been diagnosed with HIV.
Up until a few years ago I was a competitive marathoner training to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Trials. I was highly dedicated to the sport, almost to a fault at times. Due to a reoccuring injury I had to step away. As devastated as I was at the time, I am extremely happy that it happened. It allowed me to realize what truly mattered in my life. It was not a some goal race or time, it was the people who were part of my everyday life. My friends, my family, and most importantly my partner Chris. Without those people, especially Chris, I would not be able to participate in something like this.
Through all of this I still have a passion for endurance sport, but now I have a way to use that passion for a greater good, one that will have a larger impact on our community.
I am setting my fundraising goal high at $25,000+!
I recognize that this experience and opportunity is a journey that I am not going on alone. I know with the support of my friends, family and the community around me I can surpass this goal.
So please help me in achieving this goal as I prepare, fundraise and train for this ride from June 2 – June 8.
Your support means the world to me and to those who it will help. No matter how big or small, every little bit matter and is equally important.
Also, did you know that your donation can go twice as far? Many companies will match their employee’s donations up to 100% sometimes. If you do decide to donate, please check with your company and HR department and see how they can match your donation and help me reach my goal even faster!
If your company will match your donation, in the “Designation” or “Purpose” field please include:
1. My name – Ian LaBelle
2. Participant Number - 3239
3. AIDS/LifeCycle 2019
*Please note that AIDS/LifeCycle is not an independent 501(c)3 and matching gifts must specify either San Francisco AIDS Foundation or the Los Angeles LGBT Center as the beneficiary of the matching gift.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I cannot thank you enough for your support in this effort and know that I will be thinking of you through every mile come June!
