Hello friends and family, near and far!
Let me give you a brief overview as to why I'm doing this crazy long bike ride:
I went to college in Boston where my main mode of transportation was a bicycle. I spent a good amount of time biking as a commuter and totally loving it. When I moved to Los Angeles I found myself falling into a LOT of driving.
This past summer I played a small music festival out East and stayed with a good friend who is an avid cyclist. We went on some distance rides together and I rediscovered my love for biking. I couldn't actually believe how great it was to bike 30 miles in a day! My body was tired but I felt really good. I couldn't wait to do it more and to build up to longer distances!
When I came home to LA I bought a bike and joined a team that my good friend was already on. Team Fubar participates in AIDS/Life Cycle every year and this year I made the decision to ride with them! In the time I've spent on the team so far, I've done several Griffith Park climbs, a 60+ mile costal ride to downtown Long Beach, and a rolling climb through some Malibu Canyons. In addition to these heftier team rides, I've commited to commute biking on days when I work 8 hours or less. (Those of you who know my schedule know that an 8 hour day is not always the deal :)) I've done a pretty solid job sticking to this commitment!
I love being on my bicycle and the prospect of being able to ride for a good cause is even better! If you can find it in your hearts and pocketbooks to support me in this 545-mile bike ride to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation, I'll be very grateful. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for joining me in this cause!
