Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 2nd - June 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I'll be one of them!
Deciding to join the ride this year was not an easy choice. It was one filled with fear, doubt, questions about my physical stamina, and whether or not I have what it takes to follow through with a promise of this magnitude. But, when i really thought about all the things i have overcome in my life-- coming out, getting sober, changing careers, the loss of my father, among other things-- I realized that a long bike ride could be just that simple--a bike ride, that I have the willingness and strength to get through just as i have so many other challenges i have faced.
I've got a lot of work ahead of me preparing for this ride. But I am prepared, because of how many peoples lives can be affected by the fundraising involved.
Let me give you a breakdown of how your donations can help:
$50 allows for the purchase and distribution of 550 condoms
$100 enables prevention counseling for 12 clients
$150 provides comprehensive HIV/STD testing to 1 client
$500 purchases a full year of medical supplies for 20 patients
$1,000 provides substance abuse counseling services for 25 clients or funds one client receiving Post Exposure Prophylaxis
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, myself included, and your support means the world to me.
We're working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
