June 2nd - June 8th 2019, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I’ll be one of them!
I was born after the AIDS epidemic, but I have read and heard enough stories of people lost their loved ones to the virus. I myself, growing up in rural China, had to overcome lots of fears and stigma in the journey of discovering and accepting myself being gay. Now I live in the freest place in the world, but I know the stigma against HIV and LGBT is still around everywhere else. I am a PrEP beneficiary, but I know the physical pain, mental depression, misunderstanding and discrimination people have to live through because of their status. We are on a mission to make HIV/AIDS the forever past.
This is my first ALC ride. I am super pumped, and have been training hard. I know experience will be exiciting, remarkable and life-changing. I am riding to share my appreciation for the people who have fought for LGBT rights, and the people who have been pushing the medicine and technologies forward, I am riding for the ones who love and support me for who I am, I am riding to support the ones in my life who have sufferred from HIV/AIDS, I am riding for a stronger LGBT community, and I am riding to spread the positivity and raise the awareness of equality.
I am proudly inviting you to be part of this historical chapter of making HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Please join me by giving what you can. Your donation will go to San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, who will use it to provide services of HIV/STD counseling, prevention, diagnosis and treatment to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to these resources. Receipts will be emailed to you for tax-deduction purpose.
Thank you for your support!
