Hello and wlecome to my page! I am super excited about this event, and grateful for all of your support.
Recently, I went to the LGBT Center in search of volunteer opportunities in my area. I have a passion for giving back and helping those in need, as well as supporting causes that are close to my heart. While I was at the center, I learned about this incredible opportunity- a bike ride from San Fransisco to Los Angeles to raise money for the AIDS foundation and LGBT Center. Instantly I was hooked! Not only do I love helping people, but I really enjoy exercise and physically challenging activities. I signed up right away, and now, here I am, begging all of you for donations so I can complete this mission and support an awesome cause.
What am I doing? From June 2nd - June 8th, I will be riding along with over 3,000 cyclists for the AIDS/LifeCycle event, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. It is a 7 day journey that I will be training for over the next 8 months.
What is it for? AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation and is designed to advance their shared interest to reduce new HIV infections and improve the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS. As part of this event, thousands of people participating as either Cyclists, Roadies, Volunteers, or Virtual Cyclists raise critically needed funds for HIV/AIDS-related services and bring to light the fact that HIV/AIDS is still a devastating disease in our society, particularly the LGBT community and communities of color.
By being a part of AIDS/LifeCycle, you will help us work towards the following:
- Fund the work of San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center to provide free HIV/AIDS medical care, testing, and prevention services.
- Raise awareness to end the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.
- Provide a positive, life affirming experience for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Grow our community of activists, volunteers, and ambassadors fighting to end AIDS.
- Honor those who have passed from AIDS-related causes.
In order to participate as a cyclist, I need to raise a minimum of $3,000, so I would really appreciate your support!
If you cannot make a financial contribution, don't worry! I also need your help in spreading the news. Please share my page, ask a friend to donate, and if you have any bike equipment or gear that you can donate or lend, I would appreciate that as well!
We're working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
