Thank you for joining me in this cause!
From June 2nd - June 8th, I will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. I will be volunteering as a Roadie and working in the Gear and Tent truck helping to take care of the cyclists and volunteers! I am excited to participate and join my team.
I was inspired by one of my best friends who is riding for the first time this year who was inspired by one his best friends last year. Every person I met has described this ride as a "life changing event." Over the last few months, I have had the privilege to get to know the members of just one of the many teams participating in the ride this year. They have welcomed me with open arms and immediately accepted me and treated me like part of the family. Their spirit and generosity has been amazing to watch unfold before my eyes.
I am old enough to have seen the toll and devastation HIV/AIDS had when I first came out in college in the early 90's. My formative college years were fraught with constant worry and the weekly passing of another friend way too long before their time. I recently found a journal I used to keep in college. One of my entries was that I feared I would never live to be 40. Those were indeed difficult times. Times are better now BUT the fight is not over.
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
