I'm Riding to End AIDS

From June 6-12, 2010 I am participating in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS.

"In California alone there are 60,000 people living with AIDS, and another estimated 91,000 living with HIV. Nationally, 70 percent of all new infections occur in communities of color and people under the age of 25 are increasingly affected. The costs associated with medical care and treatment, for a person with HIV is about $20,000 per year." (Excerpt from http://www.aidslifecycle.org/about/why.html)

The sad truth is health care in the United State is not a right but a privilege. AIDS/Lifecycle helps ease the burden of social, economic, and psychological distress for the medically insured and uninsured, living with HIV/AIDS.

The purpose of this event is to raise money - to increase AIDS prevention and awareness.  Though I pray and aim to ride every mile, I am altogether excited, scared and anxious!

Please help me raise $5000, to support the AIDS/Lifecycle, by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
