I'm Riding to End AIDS

During the past seven years of AIDS/LifeCycle, I have watched, inspired, as friends and those in my community have raised money for AIDS outreach and treatment, and trained for the BIG RIDE from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I've supported quite a few of them in their efforts, but I've often wondered if I too could contribute in a bigger way and do this ride myself. And, somewhere, halfway between doubt and dream, the commitment to do something truly meaningful with 2009 was born.

I've committed to raising $3,000 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation in its mission to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by HIV. I've committed to spending much of the first half of 2009 in the saddle, getting conditioned for a 545-mile bike ride down the California coast from May 31 to June 6. And I've committed to swallowing my fear of seven days of camping!

I will be joined in this adventure by 2,500 other riders, all united in their desire to do something truly great. There are 2,700,000 new HIV infections every year, so the need for this "ride to end AIDS" has not diminished. Inspired as I have been by those riders before me, I will be equally inspired by the support that I receive from you.
