Thank you for joining me in this cause!
In June of 2002, I was diagnosed with AIDS , not HIV, AIDS. My viral load was over 200 thousand and my t-cell count was a mere 8. My body was in tremendous turmoil, suffering from several opportunistic infections, i.e
-gastrointestinal infection, severe weight loss
-wasting, severe muscle loss
-Kaposi Sarcoma, lesions covered my body
-Mycibacterial Avium, parasites eating away at my brain
-nueropathy, my feet basically were on fire. Could barely walk.
During that time I was struggling with the rape I experienced in the Air Force, Suffering from PTSD. Long story short due to AIDS, PTSD from the sexual assault and the harsh medications,(destroying my organs), taking me out of the work force, I ended up homeless living on the streets of LA. Which led to drug use and selling my body to escape and survive.
However, I #recovered!!! Access to resources gave me hope, a chance to turn my life around.
Now I'm off drugs, undetectable and have a new apartment!
It was through resources like what the LGBT CENTER provide through donors like you that enabled me and many others with stories like mine to recover, to get stabilized, to have an acceptable quality of life.
June 4th - June 10th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I’ll be one of them!
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
