Thank you for joining me in this cause!
On June 4th, I will embark on my first AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. We'll be making this journey with over 3,000 other Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists.
If this all sounds familiar, it's probably because last year, just over a week before Tina and I were scheduled to depart for San Francisco for our first ALC Ride, I had a cycling accident. The crash resulted in a fractured pelvis and I was devastated. My recovery was long and trying, but I've been determined not to let it keep me from living my life.
Now, I'm back at it, training multiple days a week, climbing excruciating hills I thought I'd never ascend and enduring long, exhausting rides. I'm stronger now than I was this time last year. And sure, I now have some aches and pains that I didn't have prior to my accident, but I've learned how to manage and work around the pain. Every time I think 'I can't,' I prove myself wrong. I can. It has shown me that this is as much of a mental challenge as it is a physical one.
Ok, so here's where you come in.
Each participant must raise a minimum of $3,000. Your donation is completely tax deductible, so I hope that you'll consider donating as generously as you are able. No donation is too small. For those who rely on these services to survive, every dollar counts.
Please know how much your support means to me and to those we're riding in support of. When I'm out on that road and fear that I can't keep going, I will remember all of you. I will remember those who need us and who may not have had a chance had we not participated in a cause greater than ourselves.
Thank you for believing in me. Together, we can make a difference.
