Thank you for joining me in this cause!
Just three weeks before completing his PhD, a very good college friend committed suicide after learning he was HIV+. It was unexpected. He was shocked and very frightened. In 1992, there weren’t the treatments, drug therapies or support groups like there are today. I miss him terribly. I can’t help but wonder if he had the support there is today, someone in his corner, would he still be with us?
ALL LIVES MATTER. That is why I am participating in AIDS/Lifecycle in 2017. I won’t be actually “cycling” the 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Instead, for the 545-mile journey, I will travel/camp with the team and volunteer crew---donating my skills as one of their massage therapists. My hands and skills will keep them going. I'll work tirelessly to bring them relief from the pain that comes with such an endurance ride and making an event like this possible. AND—I will have FUN. I am part of Team Goodisness—a tireless, selfless group of people, set on having fun, and loving on others while fighting HIV/AIDS. Most of the team will ride. Others will roadie, and cycle virtually. They all do what they can to contribute however they can. Me? My fingers, hands, forearms, elbows, etc. will be very busy that week. It isn't much--but it is what I can do! Some day, I hope to be on a bike with the team. UNTIL then, I can help keep THEM going!
The cause is WORTH IT. All lives are PRICELESS.
So many need our help and NOT just in the form of treatment---but also EDUCATION and PREVENTION! Our young people these days are growing up SO much faster than I did. Educating them about the risks is crucial to a changed future. Not only will your donation go toward testing and treatment programs, but it will also reach our young people in the form of counseling and education. YOU can make a difference in their future, and ultimately OUR future.
Won’t you PLEASE consider helping by matching my self-start donation of $100? My overall goal is to raise $10,000 by next June--and just $5,000 by December 31. Your tax-deductible donation will impact many in multiple ways! You can even spread out your donation over a period of time to make it easier to support. I am about to embark on a journey of a lifetime…but I can’t do it alone. Won’t you link arms with me and help to change the future together?
THANK YOU!!! Visit me again soon and see more information about this wonderful cause!
