Conquered Mt. Tamalpais a couple weeks ago! Plus, it's official! Trask and Mace are riding a TANDEM. YEAH!! __________________________________________________________________________ April 5th: Our big fund raiser, Puttin' on the RITZ, was a huge success! The community really came together and pulled off what has been described by AIDS/LifeCycle employees as the best fund raiser in their nine year history!
And of course, all of the beautiful people that got all dolled up and came out to shake it with us! We're incredibly grateful to be part of such a special community. THANK YOU.
____________________________________________________________________________________ March 14th: East Bay training day! One "peloton" headed out early from Lafayette to south of Danville, up into Blackhawk, then up to the ranger station on Mount Diablo for a 36 mile loop with something like 2000 feet of elevation gain. The later team cranked it out from Orinda out to Concord, Martinez and back to Lafayette for a 40 mile loops with some nice climbing, as well. March 13th: Beautiful riding weather was what Mace and company had as they headed out for tour of Tiburon from San Francisco. Gorgeous! March 10th: Haven't posted a group training log in a while! Most of us have been getting in shape by heading for the hills and enjoying the awesome winter storms we got this year, in addition to riding on our own. The Oakland hills are my backyard and provide pretty excellent terrain for strength training. We're heading out for a nice tour of Marin with our new teammates Mica and Tayor this Sunday... can't wait! January 16th: More wicked hill training in the East Bay! We rode from Lake Merritt to Walnut Creek. The ride starts with a fairly gentle climb, then gets holy-crap-i'm-not-sure-if-i-wanna-do-this steep on the east side of 13 as you slither your way up Snake Road in the lowest gear you got. Smooth sailing down the backside into Moraga, though. Scouted out a really gorgeous renegade spot. We totally earned our stop at the Cheese Steak Shop! By April, we'll be riding from Oakland to the top of Mt. Diablo... and back. January 9th: Back on the Bay Trail! Can't get enough of that one. Another good 30 mile trek. December 19th: We rode the Bay Trail from Point Richmond to Jack London Square this weekend, about 30 miles. You might be amazed at how beautiful the Richmond coast is; I sure was! It was a really great ride: hardly anyone on the path, lots of quiet little parks and gorgeous views. We were finding it pretty easy to power through the flat coastline after our wicked hill training two weeks ago, but we made a nice long afternoon of it and stopped for lunch near the Berkeley Marina, and couldn't resist a celebratory Guiness in Jack London Square. December 7th: We had our first taste of hill training this past Saturday. We rode from Ben's house to Lake Chabot, over to Castro Valley, then up (up and up and up) Redwood Road above Upper San Leandro Reservoir, before snaking our way along Skyline to Keller Avenue. It seemed like we defied the laws of physics and rode uphill throughout the entire 25 mile loop! In reality, we started at about 100 ft, and topped out over 1100 ft. It was cold up there! December 2: Things are really getting underway for the Brass Cowboys! With a couple of "official" training rides under our belts, we're starting to feel great. We rode from Dublin to Martinez two weeks ago (about 30 miles), and had a beautiful ride from Sausalito to Tiburon and back last week. We're going to start working hill climbs into the routine this weekend!
